Company History


Michael A. Daleo founded Wildcatter Productions in 1988. The focus was exclusively on children’s educational entertainment until 1990. During the 1990’s the scope of business has been continuously broadened to include all types of industrial and commercial broadcast video production. Wildcatter provides customized services to help clients target specialized audiences. These services include: script writing, casting for actors and narrators, hiring of crew, and the creation of video graphics and computer animation.

A few highlights include:

  • 1994 introduced the Video Mini-lesson

    1995 expanded corporate services with series of training films for Compaq Computers

    1996-1998 original series, Grammar Time receives numerous awards (TELLY & VISION) and glowing reviews in national publications (SLJ, BOOKLIST)

    1999 – 2000 Wildcatter’s programming begins showing on PBS

    2000 released esSAY WHAT? New title receives critical praise in national publications (SLJ, BOOKLIST) and a national award for excellence (OMNI)

    2001 produced series for UT-Developmental Pediatrics – series is used to train national Head Start Program teachers – fostered commission by United States D.O.E. for more programs (more than 25 total).

    2002 released, The Mirror in My Mind: Body Image & Self-Esteem - glowing reviews (BOOKLIST & SLJ) received TELLY and OMNI awards – Now available through Discovery.

    2003 moved into new production facility located in Houston’s Museum district.

    2004 completed nine-part series for the Lunar & Planetary Institute. The project received a national TELLY Award and is widely distributed to public schools.

    2005 Commissioned to begin developing a video library of historical information for a new automotive museum - work in progress.


    2006 launched HoustonDiningandEntertainment.com (May) a video-based web-site of restaurant and entertainment venues in Houston.

    2007 produced a two part series with the cooperation of the U.S. FBI to educate kids and parents about the dangers of online sexual predators

    2008 Selected by the Baylor College of Medicine to produce a new educational series on the subject of Teen Pregnancy (currently in production)

    2008 Production services for broadcast include: Rachel Ray, Dr. Phil, Inside Edition, and Sports Off Center

    2008 in Collaboration with Houston Arts and Media, Wildcatter produces the popular
    HAM Slice of History series
